Enhancing the Sunscreen Efficacy of Bemotrizinol Micropigment by Using O/W Nanoemulsion Topical Preparations

Abstract: Objective: Bemotrizinol (BEMT) is the most efficient broad-spectrum UV-absorber having a dual mechanism of action in absorbing and reflecting photons. The main objective of this work was to develop successful oil in water (o/w) nanoemulsion for improving the solubility of BEMT and its protective characteristics. Methods: Pseudo-ternary phase diagrams were constructed using labrafac PG and isopropyl myristate as oil phase, tween 80 as surfactant (S) and cremophor EL as cosurfactant (CoS) the ratio of S/Co… Show more

“…For topical usage, this system has good stability and skin penetration capabilities, particularly for active ingredients derived from essential or plant oils (Mohite et al, 2019). Nanoemulsion system can reduce the globule size and increase the efficacy of oil in cosmetic preparations (Hashim et al, 2019). Preparations that are applied topically, such as sunscreen, must be absorbed quickly by the skin to provide a good therapeutic effect (Argenta et al, 2014).…”

“…Aloe-vera leaf extracts include a lot of polyphenol components and chemicals in them. Aloe vera's 75 potentially active elements include vitamin supplements, minerals, carbohydrates, enzymes, lignin, saponins, salicylic acids, and amino acids [10][11][12]. It has successfully treated sunburns, including both first and second-degree burns [13].…”
