Enhancing the electroactive phases in freestanding flexible films of MoS 2 / PVDF

Abstract: Freestanding, flexible, composite thin films of MoS2/PVDF have been synthesized using sol–gel method. Concentration of the fillers was optimized to tune the formation of electroactive phases (EA). The maximum amount of EA phases was obtained for 1 wt% of filler concentration. The as‐prepared samples were characterized to understand the effect of fillers on their microstructural, vibrational, and morphological properties. The fractions, of both β and γ phases, were calculated from infrared spectra. An enhanceme… Show more

“…The FTIR spectra for the representative samples are shown in Figure 5A. Various characteristic peaks corresponding to the different phases of PVDF and cellulose were observed in the spectra and have been tabulated in Table 2 20,43,46–49 . The peaks corresponding to the α phase of PVDF were observed at peak positions ~487, ~611, ~763, and ~796 cm −1 .…”

“…Due to its large specific surface area and its exfoliation ability in polymeric matrices, MoS 2 /PVDF nanocomposites were investigated in several studies. [30][31][32][33] Thakur et al [31] have synthesized MoS 2 /PVDF thin films using the sol-gel method and reported that the addition of MoS 2 significantly enhances the electroactive phases of PVDF. In another research, the piezoelectric property of PVDF was enhanced by incorporating MoS 2 via a liquid-exfoliation technique.…”
