The outbreak of COVID-19 has altered the way of language instruction. Vocabulary learning is an essential aspect of the language learning and teaching process that needs careful attention and consideration. Teaching vocabulary becomes more critical when learners cannot attend physical classes. The present study explores the impact of flashcards in learning vocabulary in an online context. The study adopted a quasi-experimental design to gather the data. The study was carried on two performed intact groups of intermediate-level learners. A vocabulary test was used to collect the data as pre and posttests. The intervention of the flashcards was continued for seven weeks. All the learners were informed about the process of the research. The result implies that the incorporation of flashcards impacted learners' vocabulary learning during online instruction. The data analysis asserts that flashcards have helped the experimental group to develop their vocabulary. The results indicate that flashcards are beneficial in the virtual learning environment. The teaching of English has some challenges, especially in primary school. The primary students do not speak English as their mother language, therefore it is quite difficult for them to acquire English fluently. Additionally, English in Indonesia is a foreign language that the children do not use in their daily life, particularly in rural areas. The preliminary study found that the primary students’ English score was under the minimum passing criteria which was 68, there was only thirty-four percent (34%) of students can achieve it. Thus, the use of teaching techniques was implemented to help the children to acquire better English. The purpose of this study was to examine how a snowball-throwing teaching method and youtube may be used to improve the vocabulary understanding of fifth graders. This study used collaborative classroom action research (CCAR). The results showed that the snowball throwing method and youtube can help students improve their vocabulary knowledge. Vocabulary tests got an average score of 93.6, with ninety-eight percent (98 percent) of students reach with the criteria. They were enthusiastic about utilizing this method to learn English. They were also able to work well in groups, and displayed excellent teamwork skills.

The systematic review was completed to examine studies on the effects of Google Classroom (GC) usage as a learning technology on ESL/EFL learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Most studies on this matter were one-off instead of longitudinal and primarily focused on the perception of its users. This study identifies gaps and additional aspects that could be investigated in future studies. Three databases, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar, were explored to collect relevant data. Primary searchers between 2020 and 2022 revealed 217 studies on the topic under investigation. After scrutinizing abstracts and removing duplicates, 12 were retained for further analysis. A thematic analysis was conducted to derive the benefits and issues of using GC in learning English. It was revealed that GC could play a role in increasing students' achievement in the four primary skills in the English language, listening, reading, speaking, and writing. Issues with using GC mainly revolved around external factors rather than the learning platform itself. It is recommended that future studies look at other aspects of GC usage in language learning, such as its specific features and learning materials uploaded to it, and whether different online learning platforms than GC could yield similar results to GC.
