Enhancing of micro water management in dry season at Dadahup lowland irrigation area

Abstract: The Indonesian government in 2020 initiated a food estate program to revitalize Ex-PLG areas in order to strengthen national food security. Dadahup lowland irrigation area (DIR Dadahup) was part of the food estate program. Water insufficiency during the dry season has been Dadahup’s problem to date. The channel’s water level during the dry season drops to +0.48 m, which is lower than the average ground level of +1.00 m and +1.30 m at the left and right banks, respectively. This causes stunted growth of the cul… Show more

“…The most recent research on the micro water management system in DIR Dadahup focused on a hydraulic study regarding using gates to enhance drainage performance [3]. Based on previous research, it is believed that one of the significant challenges in agricultural development in DIR Dadahup is the issue of inundation [3] and water management, particularly during the dry season [7]. Based on the same idea, in this research, it is deemed essential to analyze the performance of the existing mini-polder system in Block A5 under its current conditions.…”

“…After decades of reclamation projects, there are still problems in Indonesia's lowlands, such as acidity in water and soil, flooding and drought, sedimentation of canals, and decreased function of gates infrastructure [1][2][3][4][5]. Problems arise due to the lack of maintenance of canals and water structures.…”
