Abstract: The diatom Phaeodactylum tricornutum, known for its high triacylglycerol (TAG) content and significant levels of n-3 long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFAs), such as eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), has a limited ability to utilize exogenous organic matter.
