Enhancement of the Antitumor Effect on Combination Therapy of an Anticancer Drug and Its Antibody against Carcinoembryonic Antigen

Abstract: Background: Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is frequently overexpressed in various types of human cancers and is associated with cell adhesion. There are three possible mechanisms of cancer therapy that employ anti-CEA antibody (Ab): Ab-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC), complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC) or the prevention of CEA interaction with the extracellular matrix and/or intercellular adhesion molecules resulting in anoikis. In this study, the effect of C2-74, a human anti-CEA monoclonal A… Show more

“…We also propose further work to investigate how the metabolites of paracetamol interact with the active ingredients of Habb-e-Asgand, driving its antioxidative and hepatoprotective activity. In addition, Habb-e-Asgand as a mixture of several antioxidative and anticancer herbs offers a promising option for testing against cancer in search of an effective anticancer regime (Shibaguchi et al, 2012).…”

“…Depletion of this enzyme by alkyltransferase inhibitors O 6 -methylguanine or the epigenetic silencing of the MGMT gene by promoter methylation potentiate temozolomide activity in vitro and in vivo [18,19]. In fact, glioblastoma patients with the MGMT methylated have an improved therapy response during temozolomide treatment [20]. Conversely, the antitumor activity of single-agent cisplatin is not related to MGMT activity [21].…”
