Enhancement of neutrophil chemotaxis by trans-anethole-treated Staphylococcus aureus strains

Abstract: This study aimed to analyze the chemotactic response of differentiated HL-60 neutrophil-like (dHL-60) cells to trans-anethole (TA)-treated Staphylococcus aureus strains. Special attention was paid to evaluate the influence of TA on the chp gene expression level, as well as molecular docking and molecular dynamics (MD) simulation studies on interactions of TA with chemotaxis inhibitory protein of S. aureus (CHIPS). The following parameters were studied: susceptibility to TA using the agar diffusion method, the … Show more

“…293,294 It is of great difficulty to conduct the research of NETs in-depth, and growing studies replace neutrophils with differentiated HL-60 cells via dimethyl sulfoxide or all-trans retinoic acid. [295][296][297] HL-60 cells are differentiated human promyelocytic leukemia cells that can be used for laboratory research on blood cell formation and physiology. Nevertheless, it is of inefficiency for dHL-60 to generate NETs compared to neutrophils, and differences including the dynamics pattern of the cytoskeleton, endomembrane, phagocytosis abilities and calcium influx exist between dHL-60 and neutrophils.…”
