Sweet pepperincludes several vitamins and is regarded as a great source of bioactive nutrients, such as carotenoids and phenolic compounds, for human growth and activities. This work aimed to investigate the effects of the soil addition of growth stimulants, namely, effective microorganisms (EM), compost tea, fulvic acid, and yeast extract, and foliar applications of seaweed extract, on the vegetative growth, enzyme activity, phytohormones content, chemical constituents of plant foliage, fruit yield, and fruit quality of sweet pepper plants (Capsicum annuumL. cv. Zidenka) growing under greenhouse conditions. The results showed that the tallest plant, largest leaf area/plant, and heaviest plant fresh and dry weights were recorded after combining a soil addition of yeast extract and foliar spray with seaweed extracts at 3 g/L in two growing seasons. The highest number of fruit/plant, fruit yield/m2, fruit values of vitamin C (VC), total sugars, total soluble solids (TSS), and carotenoids, along with the highest leaf of cytokines, P, K, Fe, and total carbohydrates values, were obtained using a soil addition of fulvic acid and spray with seaweed extract at 3 g/L in the two seasons of study. These treatments also provided the lowest abscisic acid, peroxidase, and super oxidase dismutase values in the same conditions. Sweet pepper plants supplemented with compost tea and seaweed extract foliar spray at 3 g/L were the most promising for inducing the highest values of fruit fresh and dry weights, fruit length and diameter, and the leavesrichest in N, Zn, and Mn; inversely, it induced the lowest catalase levels in both seasons. The applications of EM, yeast extract, and seaweed extract could be applied for high growth, mineral levels, enzymatic activity, fruit yield, and nutritional value of sweet pepper fruit and minimizing environmental pollution.

Rapeseed has been cultivated to produce non-edible and edible oil for thousands of years. It is known as the second-largest oilseed plant in the world with 24.6 million tons of oil production in 2021. The interventions that can be carried out during the cultivation of a plant with such a high production value are quite significant. Growth, enzymatic activities, and phytoremediation of rapeseed grown under heavy metal stress supported by humic acid (HA) and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) applications were investigated for the first time in this study. Three doses of EDTA (EDTA1:5 mmol/kg, EDTA2:10 mmol/kg, EDTA3:15 mmol/kg) and three doses of HA (HA1:500 mg/kg, HA2:1000 mg/kg, HA3:2000 mg/kg) were applied in heavy metal treated pots. According to experiment results, HA1 and HA2 applications increased plant dry and fresh weights, root dry and fresh weights. However, EDTA applications caused a decrease in shoot length, a number of leaves, shoot fresh and dry weights, root fresh and dry weights. Bioconcentration factor (BCF) values for Zn, Cr and Cd we found higher than in both shoots and roots of rapeseed. For all levels of EDTA, the values of BCF (shoot) and BCF (root), transfer factor (TF) and translocation factor (TLF) increased compared to HA applications. On the other hand, in comparison to heavy metal polluted soils alone (PS), all levels of HA resulted in significantly reduced APX and CAT enzyme activity, and hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) and malondialdehyde (MDA) contents. We concluded that humic substances exert a significant influence on plant growth and reduce heavy metal toxicity in polluted soils. At the same time, HA could be more effective than EDTA in terms of phytoremediation of Cr. HA can increase phytoremediation in polluted soils as it improves plant growth and oxidative stress

Sustainable agriculture demands the use of our natural resources to enhance production and productivity without depleting the natural base along with a vision to preserve them for our future generation. The effect of modern agriculture driven by agrochemicals has raised serious concern about the health and wellbeing of our environment and humans as well. The growth of the population and shrinking resources has created the need for searching new technology and resources to balance between feeding and preserving the environment. Researchers are nowadays more focussed towards trying and testing new products to reduce our dependency on agrochemicals. Among the various alternatives, Seaweed has drawn the attention of many researchers due to its unique properties and abundant availability. They are nowadays used to increase the yield by enhancing the nutrient uptake by the plant. This can reduce excessive fertilizer application for yield enhancement. Seaweed extracts are also showing effective response against various pest and diseases. This property can also play a very important role in reducing our dependency on harmful chemicals for pest control.
