“…One algal strain used for ADPE remediation was isolated from a local water body surrounding the Nanchang Maiyuan Landfill Plant and named Nanchang University (NCU)-7, which was identified as Chlorella sorokiniana , based on our previous methods ( Li et al, 2022 ). C. sorokiniana has been widely applied in wastewater remediation because it can achieve high biomass production and nutrient removal in mixotrophic cultivation ( León-Vaz et al, 2019 ; Qian et al, 2020 ; Qian et al, 2021 ).…”

“…While both excessively high and low levels inhibit them. High concentration of Mg 2+ can enhance the activity of acetyl coenzyme A carboxylase (ACCase), thus promoting lipid accumulation (Qian et al, 2021). Ca 2+ is more critical in the signal transduction to regulate the synthesis of lipids in microalgae (Di Caprio et al, 2018).…”

“…2022, 12, 4741 2 of 16 AD effluent (ADE) from piggery (ADPE), the byproduct of anaerobic microorganism degradation of organics from piggery wastewater, is enriched in high levels of organic and inorganic compounds, heavy metals, antibiotics, and hormones [5]. Microalgae is a group of unicellular organisms with excellent performance in nutrient assimilation and value-added biomass accumulation during growth, widely applied for the treatment of municipal, agricultural, and industrial wastewaters [6][7][8][9][10], including ADPE [11]. For example, Debowski et al [9] reported that a mixed-culture microalgae showed effective biomass production (3 g L −1 ) and high nutrient removal rates in ADE from dairy wastewater, reaching above 90% of organic compound and nutrient removal.…”
