Enhanced visible luminescence and modification in morphological properties of cadmium oxide nanoparticles induced by annealing

Abstract: Cadmium oxide nanoparticles synthesised by a simple solÀgel synthesis method showed luminescence properties in the visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum. Both green and blue emissions were observed in photoluminescence spectra. We have investigated luminescence properties by changing the synthesis conditions. An enhanced luminescence of CdO nanoparticles was realised when these particles were annealed at different temperatures. Cadmium interstitial vacancies and oxygen vacancies played an important ro… Show more

“…The calculated bandgap values for the hybrid structure of g-C 3 N 4 /ZnO and g-C 3 N 4 /CdO were found to be 2.97 eV and 2.30 eV, respectively. The earlier reported bandgap values of pure ZnO and CdO are 3.37 eV, 3.08 eV, respectively [42,43]. The effective interaction of graphitic carbon nitrides with ZnO and CdO is responsible for the altered bandgap values of metal oxide-graphitic carbon nitrides hybrid as compared to pure.…”

“…Cadmium oxide has a wide range of applications like the manufacture of paint pigments and cadmium-coated baths. Cadmium oxide has many applications due to its high optical transparency and low ohmic resistivity [15][16][17]. In recent years we observed that the metal oxide nanomaterials play a significant role in several areas of chemistry, materials science and physics.…”
