Enhanced visible‐light‐driven photocatalytic activities of LiInO2 by Mo6+‐doping strategy

Abstract: A novel visible-light-driven photocatalyst of Mo-doped LiInO 2 nanocomposite was successfully synthesized through a sol-gel method. The effect of Mo-doping concentrations on the microstructures and properties of LiInO 2 was characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, photoluminescence, and ultraviolet-visible absorption spectra. The photocatalytic properties of the as-prepared samples were evaluated by the photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB)… Show more

“…From Figure 6G, the characteristic diffraction peaks of the sample after degradation can be assigned to MoO 3 (JCPDS: 47-1320) and Fe 2 (MoO 4 ) 3 (JCPDS: 35-0183). As shown in XPS, the emerging characteristic peaks at 232.7 and 235.7 eV are assigned to the Mo 6+ 3d 5/2 and Mo 6+ 3d 3/2 (Figure 6H), 59 and the Se 2− is also detected (Figure S19A). However, without Fe 3 O 4 , it is difficult for the pure MoSe 2 to be degraded as displayed in Figure 6I,J.…”

“…Triethanolamine (TEOA, 0.01 mol L À1 ), isopropyl alcohol (IPA, 0.02 mol L À1 ), and p-benzoquinone (BZQ, 0.1 mmol L À1 ) are used as scavengers of photogenerated holes (h + ), hydroxyl radical ($OH), and superoxide radicals ($O 2À ), respectively. [52][53][54] Meanwhile, the experiment with no scavenger under the same experimental conditions is carried out for compared. The addition of TEOA and BZQ in the experiment cause a signicant decrease in photocatalytic degradation, indicating that photogenerated holes (h + ), and superoxide radicals ($O 2À ) play a major role in the degradation of MB.…”
