Enhanced Tone Mapping Using Regional Fused GAN Training with a Gamma-Shift Dataset

Abstract: High-dynamic-range (HDR) imaging is a digital image processing technique that enhances an image’s visibility by modifying its color and contrast ranges. Generative adversarial networks (GANs) have proven to be potent deep learning models for HDR imaging. However, obtaining a sufficient volume of training image pairs is difficult. This problem has been solved using CycleGAN, but the result of the use of CycleGAN for converting a low-dynamic-range (LDR) image to an HDR image exhibits problematic color distortion… Show more

“…Qiao et al [12] used local gamma correction, which is also regarded as a kind of local tone mapping algorithm. Tone mapping algorithms in [14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21] are the latest that have good processing effects in terms of image structure, detail preservation, lighting and other features. Wang [15] proposed a new blind tone mapping image (TMI) quality evaluation method based on local degradation characteristics and global statistical characteristics.…”
