The solution combustion synthesis method is employed to prepare Magnesium, Zinc, Aluminate doped with dysprosium (Dy3+) using the general formula Mg(1‐x‐y) Zn(y)Al2O4:xDy (x = 0.05 and y = 0.3 mol%). From X‐ray diffraction studies, the crystal structure belongs to a cubic close‐packed spinel structure with space group Fd3ˉm and an average crystallite size is 26.18 nm. In the Fourier transform infrared spectra, the peaks at 683.69 cm−1, 503.12 cm−1 correspond to the AlO6 groups. The peak temperature (Tm) from the Thermoluminescent glow curve is recorded at 235°C, 237°C, and 235°C, at irradiation doses of 600 Gy, 800 Gy, and 1000 Gy, respectively. The kinetic parameters are evaluated from the thermoluminescent glow curve by calculating the activation energy (E), order of kinetics (b), and frequency factor (s−1). Nanophosphor Mg0.65Zn0.3Al2O4:0.05Dy shows sub linear dose relationship at doses 600–675 Gy and 925–1000 Gy. Further, at doses between 675 and 925 Gy, it shows a super linear relationship. The optimum activation energy (E) of 0.77–0.82 eV and negligible fading make it suitable for high radiation thermoluminescent dosimetry.

In this section, we describe the facile urea-assisted combustion synthesis technique that was used to synthesis of the Dy 3+ activated Ca 2 MgSi 2 O 7 phosphor at the already maintained muffle furnace temperature 600°C. In addition, the characterization studies of the synthesized powder samples are well reported on the basis of their structural, morphological, elemental, and thermal analysis. The synthesized Ca 2 MgSi 2 O 7 :Dy 3+ nanophosphor was further characterized by using XRD, FESEM, EDX, and, TL analysis. The obtained XRD pattern indicates tetragonal crystal structures that are compatible with JCPDS card number #79-2425 and recognizes the formation of the desired Ca 2 MgSi 2 O 7 host without any traces of impurity for confirmation of phase purity. The average crystallite size was estimated using Debye-Scherer's formula, and was found to be in the range of ~27 nm. It performed a FESEM study to demonstrate exterior morphology. EDX spectra have been employed to establish the sintered phosphor's elemental composition. The acquired TL glow curve have used to determine the thermal characteristics of the as-synthesized phosphor. Dy 3+ doped samples have exposed for 15 min to UV exposure show optimum TL intensity at 112.21°C. With alterations to UV exposure time, it also becomes apparent that the ambient temperature corresponding to the TL peak remains constant. In order to conduct further research on characteristics including activation energy, order of kinetics, and frequency factor, samples with 4 mol% of Dy 3+ exposed for varied UV exposure times were chosen. All of these parameters were assessed using the peak shape method. The aforementioned results suggest that an alternative preference for thermoluminescence dosimetry (TLD) and long-lasting applications is the combustion-synthesized Dy 3+ -doped Ca 2 MgSi 2 O 7 nanophosphor.
