Enhanced Secure SWIPT in Heterogeneous Network via Intelligent Reflecting Surface

Abstract: In this paper, secure transmission in a simultaneous wireless information and power transfer technology-enabled heterogeneous network with the aid of multiple IRSs is investigated. As a potential technology for 6G, intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) brings more spatial degrees of freedom to enhance physical layer security. Our goal is to maximize the secrecy rate by carefully designing the transmit beamforming vector, artificial noise vector, and reflecting coefficients under the constraint of quality-of-ser… Show more

“…Niu et al [23] maximized the minimum robust information rate among the legitimate IRs while the ERs are considered as potential Eave's. In addition, the IRS-assisted SWIPT system was considered in [24], [25] to optimize secrecy rate. However, the PS factor was not jointly optimized in the secure transmission of IRS-assisted SWIPT system, which is an important factor that can prolong the uptime and improve the energy efficiency of devices.…”

In the paper, we consider the unified user equipment (UE) with a PS scheme where the secrecy rate should be maximized by additionally considering the PS factor at the UE.…”

“…To implement green communications, a MIMO-based SWIPT aided RIS system was introduced to provide better performance in terms of secrecy rate when non-convex iterative algorithms are applied [118] - [120]. Authors in [118] considered a SWIPT aided IRS system equipped with multiple antennas aiming to maximize the secrecy rate of the system by joint designing AN covariance and phase shift matrix.…”

“…Iterative optimizations were proposed to solve the optimization problems, and numerical results were shown to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed methods. The work in [26][27][28] considered the IRS-assisted SWIPT sys-tems in the MISO channels with external eavesdropper(s) assuming a different number of energy-harvesting receivers, eavesdroppers, or IRSs, respectively. Different methods were proposed to solve the secrecy rate maximization problems.…”
