Enhanced production of chitin deacetylase by Penicillium oxalicum SAEM-51 through response surface optimization of fermentation conditions

Abstract: Optimization of the fermentation conditions for chitin deacetylase (CDA) production by Penicillium oxalicum SAEM-51 was undertaken in the present study using central composite design (CCD) under submerged condition. CDA is widely employed for bio-catalytic conversion of chitin to chitosan. Chitosan is a biopolymer with immense commercial potential in diverse industrial sectors, viz. pharmaceutics, food, agriculture, water treatment, etc. CDA production was significantly affected by all the variables studied, v… Show more

“…Statistical optimization of fibrinolytic enzyme production was attempted by various researchers ( Liu et al, 2005 ; Deepak et al, 2008 ; Mukherjee and Rai, 2011 ; Vijayaraghavan and Vincent, 2015 ). RSM had been successfully employed for the enhanced production of chitin deacetylase ( Pareek et al, 2014 ), alkaline protease ( Puri et al, 2002 ), L -glutaminase ( Singh et al, 2013 ), lipase ( Ruchi et al, 2008 ), esterase ( Ren et al, 2006 ), and keratinase ( Paul et al, 2014 ). However, very little studies were reported to use RSM to optimize the fibrinolytic enzyme production in SSF.…”

“…7 and 8) possibly due to production and secretion of hydrolytic enzymes by the fungus. Pareek et al (2014) also reported enhanced production of chitin deacetylase by Penicillium oxalicum SAE M -51 through response surface optimization of fermentation conditions. The network of fungus around the dull orange coloured egg laid on the surface of cotton leaf was also observed (Fig.…”
