“…This surface feature has been observed in chemical bath deposition-derived β-Bi 2 O 3 sheets in which tiny Bi 2 O 3 particles were embedded in the sheet-like crystals. 25 With the prolonged hydrothermal reaction to 9 h, some triangular sheets clump together increasingly, and others shrink and even disappear, as shown in Fig. 2(b).…”

“…ZnO and Bi 2 O 3 are ideal for direct Z-scheme systems because of their position between minimum conduction and maximum valence bands. The chemical bath deposition method is a chemical synthesis technique primarily used to prepare thin films of various materials from aqueous precursor solutions at temperatures below 100 ◦ C. Recently, Sahnesarayi et al prepared a photoelectrode of a Bi 2 O 3 nanosheet using the chemical deposition method …”

“…The morphology and photoelectronic properties of Bi 2 O 3 films prepared by the CBD method depend on the concentration of the precursor solution, pH, deposition temperature, deposition time, category and amount of complexing agent. [27][28][29][30] Triethanolamine (TEA) is the common complexing agent used to deposit Bi 2 O 3 films, which affects the nucleation and growth process: (1) TEA can bind to Bi 3+ to form an unstable Bi-TEA complex, which can reduce the probability of homogeneous nucleation of Bi(OH) 3 from the reaction between Bi 3+ and OH À in the solution for the decreased Bi 3+ amount. (2) TEA can induce the slow release of Bi 3+ from the Bi-TEA complex in the solution during the reaction process, reduce the homogeneous nucleation in solution and promote heterogeneous nucleation of Bi(OH) 3 on the substrates, forming uniform and dense Bi 2 O 3 films on the substrates.…”
