Enhanced photocatalytic activity of silver vanadate nanobelts in concentrated sunlight delivered through optical fiber bundle coupled with solar concentrator

Abstract: To date, sunlight driven photocatalytic process for wastewater treatment is a great challenge. Herein, the photocatalytic methylene blue (MB) dye degradation activity of silver vanadate nanobelts has been enhanced using concentrated sunlight irradiation. The MB dye degradation factor in normal and concentrated sunlight irradiation is 0.57 and 0.25 respectively after 120 min of light exposure. Therefore, degradation of MB dye in concentrated sunlight occurs more than two times faster than normal sunlight. The s… Show more

“…Recent studies demonstrate that metal vanadates exhibit promising visible-light photocatalytic reactivity in decomposing pollutants and water splitting. A series of compounds can be mentioned here, such as Ag 3 VO 4 , AgV 7 O 18 , CuV 2 O 6 , FeVO 4 , Cd 2 V 2 O 7 , InVO 4 , GdVO 4 , and BiVO 4 , as the most known representatives from the vanadate family. The conducted research is mainly devoted to the nanostructured vanadates, which can appear in various forms such as nanoparticles, , nanobelts, , or nanotubes . It is well known that the shape and size play a significant role, as broadly described in the literature. The photocatalytic properties are also strongly dependent on the crystalline structure.…”

“…Then, the cleavage of each methyl group on amine groups, in turn, leads to the formation of Azure B, Azure A, and thionin, with m/z of 268, 252, and 225, respectively (Figure 10(a)-10(e)). These products result from the reduction of the methyl group in the MB molecule via photocatalytic degradation [35,43]. The peak at 1.8 min (Figure 10 ).…”
