Enhanced Oil Recovery Possibilities For Pembina Nisku C-Pool

Abstract

West Pembina is being regarded as the most significant oil discovery in Canada since the Rainbow Field was discovered in 1966. Six different recovery processes have been studied to arrive at the best strategy of oil recovery from one of the pinnacle, reef pools in West Pembina, the Pembina Ni~ku C Pool. It was concluded that bottomwater injection, with the reservoir pressure being maintained above the bubblepoint pressure was the best process, recovering 4528 MSTB of oil (i.e., approximately 44.8% of the originaJ oil-in-place) in 28.4 years.
