Abstract:Enhanced oil recovery (EOR) refers to oil recovery by the injection of materials not normally present in petroleum reservoirs to increase the recovery from deposits already in production and to convert static resources to economically producible reserves.
This article reviews the most important enhanced oil recovery methods: chemical, gas injection, thermal, and some new EOR methods, which contribute more than 5% to the current world oil production.
