Abstract: Background: Patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA) experience muscle quality loss, and is characterized by the enhanced echo intensity (EI) of the vastus medialis (VM) muscles and a high extracellular water-to-intracellular water (ECW/ICW) ratio of the thigh.
