Enhanced chemiluminescence of the fluorescein–KIO4 system by CdTe quantum dots for determination of catechol

Abstract: In this paper, a novel chemiluminescence (CL) system was introduced based on the use of CdTe quantum dots (QDs) with the mixture solutions of fluorescein and potassium periodate (KIO ) in alkaline medium. The CL signal of an ultra-weak system was strongly enhanced in the presence of QDs. The application of CdTe QDs-fluorescein-KIO system is reported for the first time. It was found that catechol had a diminishing effect on the CL reaction. Under optimal experimental conditions, CL intensity decreased linearly … Show more

“…More recently, more CRET platforms with traditional CL systems using luminophor donors and with metal‐based QDs as energy acceptors have been extensively reported . Suh and Park's group designed a reactive oxygen species (ROS)‐responsive hybrid nanoparticles (HNPs) composed of polyethylene glycol (PEG)‐modified QDs (PEG−QDs) that acted as energy acceptors and using a luminol derivative (L012)‐based CL system as the CRET donor.…”

“…Live cell imaging was performed and the surface mobility and diffusion patterns of BACE1 were studied for the first time. nanoparticles [21,[73][74][75][76][77][78] or any other solid support [79][80][81][82] will be omitted, given the scope of this review.…”

“…The final section will summarize recent advances in the synthesis and understanding of their structure including novel computational approaches. Even though a lot of progress has been achieved, pH-sensing [60][61][62][63][64], metal ion detection [65][66][67][68][69][70][71][72], and the use of nanoparticles [21,[73][74][75][76][77][78] or any other solid support [79][80][81][82] will be omitted, given the scope of this review.…”

“…Semiconductor nanocrystals or quantum dots (QDs) with merits of good reactivity, brightness and continuous band gap tunability have attracted increasing attention to produce CL emission or sensitize luminescence caused by other emitters in redox reactions . In this case, some researchers have focused on the investigation of CL mechanisms of QD‐based CL reactions for analytical applications . For example, possible CL mechanisms for luminol‐based systems including the luminol−H 2 O 2 system, the luminol−KMnO 4 system and the luminol−K 3 Fe(CN) 6 system catalysed by different QDs have been widely investigated.…”

In addition, enhanced CL of the fluorescein−KIO 4 system using CdTe QDs has been reported for determination of catechol . Li and colleagues have reported enhanced CL for the luminol−KIO 4 system using ZnS nanoparticles and the CL mechanism was discussed in detail.…”
