The background of this research is the problem caused by the policy of the zoning radius system that regulates the admission of new students. The policy of this system cannot be denied that students who have achieved things are undervalued because they do not have the opportunity to study at the school of their choice. This results in a reduced student interest in learning. Based on this phenomenon, this study aims to: 1) determine the policy of implementing the zoning radius system; 2) determine the improvement of the quality of education with the policy of implementing the zoning radius system. This qualitative research uses interview, observation, and documentation data collection techniques. The collected data was then analyzed using only qualitative data analysis techniques. The location of this research is Madarasah Aliyah Negeri Rejang Lebong. The sources of data and informants selected were the principal, parents of students represented by the head of the school committee, and the teacher council. The results showed that the perspective of education with a zoning radius system was not very relevant to the location of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Rejang Lebong in particular, because many students had difficulty accessing the best educational services. Education must be accessible to all people, regardless of the student's location of origin and be non-discriminatory in providing services.

The problem of inequality in the quality of education began to be resolved with school zoning policies. Departing from this ideal view, the aim was to evaluate the extent to which school zoning policies were able to achieve equal quality education. This quantitative evaluation research focuses on 10 favorite schools with state status in Sleman Regency's junior high school, Yogyakarta Special Region, Indonesia. The data was gathered from literature and observation. The data that has been obtained was analyzed by comparing the conditions of school quality before and after the zoning policy is implemented. This study found that schools that occupy the top ten rankings or favorite schools, both before to and following the school zoning regulation was put into effect, were still in a dominant position compared to other schools. This finding indicates that student input and output before to and following the school zoning regulation was enforced was also relatively the same. This study concluded that the quality before and after the zoning policy was implemented did not show significant changes because the conditions were relatively the same or one could say that they had not changed.

Exploring EFL Novice Teacher’s Identity Construction: A Narrative Inquiry of Senior High School Teacher

This study used narrative inquiry to reveal the identity construction process performed by an Indonesian EFL novice teacher through her personal experiences in a senior high school context that is still rarely explored. The interview results revealed that the teacher developed Johnston's framework based on the following three aspects of the teacher's identity: teacher-student relationship, professionalism, and religious beliefs. The results showed that the novice teacher always prioritized academic assistance for students in teacher-student relationships. In terms of professionalism, she saw it as service-oriented. Thus, she always strived to be a better teacher to her students. She also instilled religious values in her English classes. She believed instilling positive values could help socially responsible individuals. It is suggested that future research would use a solid and clear framework regarding the novice teacher's identity construction to make the research process more organized and extend some informative inputs in narrative inquiry research.
