Engineering an Ultrathin and Hydrophobic Composite Zinc Anode with 24 µm Thickness for High‐Performance Zn Batteries

Abstract: The Zn metal anode is subject to uncontrolled dendrites and parasitic reactions, which often require a big thickness of Zn foil, resulting in excess capacity and extremely low utilization. Here, an ultrathin Zn composite anode (24 µm) is developed with a protective hydrophobic layer (covalent (C2F4)n chains and F‐doped carbonized ingredient) constructed on Cu foil (denoted as (C2F4)n‐C@Cu) as a host by one‐step pyrolytic evaporation deposition. The repulsion of (C2F4)n to Zn2+ makes the (C2F4)n‐C@Cu interface … Show more

“…When electromagnetic radiation, such as a light wave, interacts with a material, the complex dielectric function provides valuable insights into the optical behavior of the material. 55,70 The dielectric constant ( ε ), closely linked to a solid material's polarizability, serves as an indicator of a medium's polarity. In this context, ε is typically represented by its real ( ε r ) and imaginary ( ε i ) parts as: 71 ε = ε r + i ε i …”

“…[155] It is obvious that the Zn anode with protect layer achieved a flatter surface while many protuberances appeared on bare Zn surface. Except for ferricyanide SEI which has properties of hydrophobicity and fast Zn 2+ conduction, Cu [156] or In-Sn alloy [157] also has the ability to induce even deposition, as no significant signal was detected by Raman spectroscopy.…”
