Engine oil contribution to diesel exhaust emissions

Abstract: The reduction of harmful pollutant emissions as well as CO 2 emissions emanating from motor vehicles will be of considerable interest in the coming decades. Emissions legislation will be the guiding principle in the development of new technologies and vehicles. More attention will have to be paid to off-road vehicles, especially tractors, if the production of healthy food and the maintenance of a cleaner environment are not to be compromised. Therefore, one the biggest challenges facing the automotive industry… Show more

“…Lubricating oil also plays a significant role in reducing the emission standards of a diesel engine as it takes part in the combustion process by three different ways such as keeping the thin film of lubrication between cylinder liner and piston rings, lubrication in the crankshaft and the valve guides of the engine 3 . Gligorijevic et al 4 examined the effect of lubricating oil on the exhaust emissions of a diesel engine. Authors have considered mineral oil SAE 15W40 and synthetic oil (PAO) 5W40 to monitor the emission levels of a diesel engine.…”

“…Typically, adults with T1DM aren't over sober and have a short length of symptoms. In assessment, people with T2DM seldom occur with ketosis, have few signs, have the clinical capabilities of insulin opposition, and the progno-sis is made thinking about their family history and weight problems [1].…”

“…In some patient, a medical difference among T1DM and T2DM isn't conceivable at appearance and autoantibodies are used to describe the sort of diabetes. Beta-cell autoantibodies are found only in T1DM patients due to the obliteration of Beta cells and hence reduced Insulin secretion [1,2].…”

“…17 Moreover, the surface indentations produced by the liner texturing act as micro-reservoirs of oil, 18 and engine emissions are mainly caused by the oil layer on the cylinder liner that is left behind the ring. [19][20][21] Thus, any type of liner texturing is most likely to increase engine emissions.…”
