Engine fault diagnosis based on sensor data fusion using evidence theory

Abstract: Evidence theory is widely used in fault diagnosis due to its efficiency to model and fuse sensor data. However, one shortcoming of the existing evidential fault diagnosis methods is that only the basic probability assignments in singletons can be generated. In this article, a new evidential fault diagnosis method based on sensor data fusion is proposed. Feature matrix and diagnosis matrix are constructed by sensor data. A discrimination degree is defined to measure the difference between the sensor reports and… Show more

“…In [35,36], a multiparameter comprehensive diagnosis system model was proposed, and the difficult problem of distinguishing various faults in the same symptom domain in the field of fault diagnosis was solved. Song and Jiang [37] proposed a new evidential fault diagnosis method in which multiple hypotheses are taken into consideration.…”

“…Here, we propose a fault diagnosis method for capacitance aging in DC link capacitors used in inverters which is based on the evidence reasoning (ER) rule [19]. Based on the principle of data-driven decision making, this method does not assume any relationship between capacitance and other parameters [20,21], but only generates types of diagnostic evidence and combines them by measuring the DC link voltage value under different capacitance attenuation degrees and then estimates the fault level of capacitance aging based on the combined results. e advantage of using the ER rule method is that it has the ability to deal with the variable information provided by incipient fault situations and it can also define the relative reliability of different information sources.…”

“…In the present work, a new method for evaluating nuclear safeguards is proposed. The method is based on Dempster–Shafer theory of evidence, which has been widely invoked to handle uncertain information, such as fault diagnosis, 2932 human reliability analysis, 33 pattern recognition, 3437 uncertainty modeling, 3840 evidential reasoning, 41,42 decision making, 43 and environmental assessment. 44,45 In this article, first, according to the belief degrees of linguistic evaluation values given by IAEA experts and weights of IAEA experts about indicators, we obtain the basic probability assignment (BPA) of each indicator.…”
