Abstract:Streptococcus pneumoniae constituye un problema mundial de salud pública, es causante de una gran variedad de síndromes infecciosos, los más graves se incluyen dentro del grupo denominado enfermedad neumocócica invasiva (ENI), que incluyen bacteriemias, meningitis, pleuritis, artritis, peritonitis y pericarditis.
