Energy saving on IoT using LoRa: a systematic literature review

Abstract: <span lang="EN-US">The development of devices connected to the internet is very significant, encouraging the creation of the internet of things (IoT). With remote systems, IoT is not enough to use in case of internet instability. By using long range (LoRa), IoT systems can now solve this problem. Millions of data make IoT-LoRa have to spend a lot of energy. This paper helps discover where recent studies offer a broad perspective on energy savings using the systematic literature review (SLR). The paper ex… Show more

“…Although the analyses in the majority of the proposed papers suggested to estimate the amount of energy consumed by a sensor node, LoRa technology was not directly included in their energy models [ 43 ]. Thus, for instance, in [ 44 ], an energy model for ultra-low power consumption of sensor nodes was presented. However, the radio frequency module used in the study did not include LoRa technology.…”

“…So that information from the room temperature sensor can be sent to electronic devices, a communication module is needed [7]. The communication modules used include ZigBee [8], NRF24L01 [9] and LoRa [10] all of which can be used in the same IoT system. ZigBee and NRF24L01 can be used for high data speed applications but have limitations on distance, the average data sent remains stable from a distance of 10 meters to 300 meters with an average of 80-90% of data successfully sent, and the connection will only be lost at a distance 400 meters [11].…”
