Energy‐related clean and green framework for shipbuilding community towards zero‐emissions: A strategic analysis from concept to case study

Abstract: Shipping is looking to progressively develop into a zero-emissions industry, in agreement with pledges made under the Initial IMO Strategy on reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from ships, and its vision to phasing out greenhouse gas emissions as soon as possible during this century. International regulations currently focus on the design and operational phases of the industry, which carries the largest life-cycle climate impact of a ship. As the level of emissions from the operational phase is reduced, the… Show more

“…Energy generation required for the process of heating and drying should be generated using renewable energy that produces zero GHG emission. A valid assumption is that due to the location of the shipyard in question, that is located in the proximity of the city center, there are options to consider that can include the use of renewable energy combined with cogeneration and district heating that can result in a carbon neutral or net zero emission shipyard [15].…”

“…As a result, understanding navigation and environmental metrics can improve profitability for freight operators. Environmental data at the port, including wind, visibility, and tidal information were collected to discern optimal conditions and times for vessel mooring and navigation (Vakili et al, 2022). The port also provides clearance elevation guidance for ships, increasing vessel capacity based on clearance elevation to increase revenue per vessel entering the port.…”

“…In recent years, big data technologies' strong and rapid development has supplied many ideas and equipment that support facilitating effective management and decisionmaking [1], [2]. In order to study complex simulation systems and decision-making support, data exploitation has been widely adopted [3], [4]. Almost all systems operations were recorded by big data technique, from then demonstrated the ability to model, prognostication, and optimization of the system [5]- [7].…”
