Energy‐efficient framework for throughput enhancement of cognitive radio network

Abstract: Summary Recently, cognitive radio (CR) has evolved as a next‐generation communication technology that has the potential to use the radio frequency (RF) spectrum in most efficient manner as compared to the other existing cellular communication technologies. The performance of CR system largely depends upon the accuracy of the sensing results. However, the sensing ambiguities such as false alarm and miss detection cause spectrum underutilization and severe interference to the primary user (PU), respectively. In … Show more

“…Various research papers have already been written on the hybrid spectrum access technique, covering it from a variety of methods and perspectives. A portion of these works is reviewed here [11][12][13][14][15]. The success of the hybrid spectrum scheme heavily depends on its ability to accurately detect the presence or absence of a PU.…”

“…In the research conducted by [13][14][15][16], the focus was on improving the sensing performance of the energy detector. [17]'s researchers discovered that in low SNR environments, the energy detector with a dynamic sensing threshold provides better results than one with a fixed threshold.…”

“…Cognitive radios possess the capacity to collaborate with other cognitive radios, facilitating the sharing of the available spectrum resources. Collaboration between different wireless devices improves spectrum utilization while avoiding interference [16][17][18][19]. This collaborative use of spectrum resources can help improve overall wireless network performance and alleviate issues such as spectrum scarcity.…”
