Energy efficient data collection with multiple mobile sink using artificial bee colony algorithm in large-scale WSN

Abstract: In most wireless sensor networks (WSN), multi-hop routing algorithm is used to transmit the data collected by sensors to user. Multi-hop forwarding leads to energy hole problem and high transmission overhead in large scale WSN. In order to address these problems, this paper proposes multiple mobile sink based data collection algorithm, which introduces energy balanced clustering and Artificial Bee Colony based data collection. The cluster head election is based on the residual energy of the node. In this study… Show more

“…Here, the reliability of data communication increases, and the lifespan of the network are extended [1]. In the traditional data collection approach, the nodes are fixed in a certain location in order to collect the data before it being transmitted to the sink node through routing protocol [14][15][16].…”

“…Mobile elements should remain set for gathering data from sensor nodes at some stages. Another energy-efficient data collection with multiple mobile sinks using an artificial bee colony algorithm in large-scale WSN was proposed in (3) . The option of the cluster head is dependent upon the node's residual energy.…”

“…Data collection is the main activity in WSN and a growing number of researchers are paying attention to this. All nodes are fixed in a traditional data collection scheme in a position to collect data before being forwarded to the Sink by routing protocol (3) . The most demanding unresolved issues with this phase at the moment are:…”

“…The proposed technique by authors may reduce energy consumption of sensor nodes, but create additional challenges like determining sink node's trajectory and cluster formation prior to data aggregation. The mobile sink data collection process, cluster head selection problem and mobile sink path optimization is discussed in [14]. The mobile sink path optimization is formulated as shortest path finding problem.…”
