Energy efficiency improvement of water pumping system using synchronous reluctance motor fed by perovskite solar cells

Abstract: Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are in the forefront of third-generation of photovoltaics and gained a lot of attention as a very promising green technology toward direct solar energy conversion to electricity. PSCs are fabricated following solution-processed techniques at low temperature and they present high power conversion efficiency exceeding 25%, enabling them to be attractive alternative to the silicon-based devices. This research work proposes an efficient and cost-effective photovoltaic (PV) pumping sys… Show more

“…Table 7 characterizes the parameter estimation extracted from the recent and reported optimization techniques on PVDDM of PWP 201 polycrystalline module, where the proposed FBIA achieves the most accurate results for these parameters with respect to the other techniques. Table 6 also manifests the parameter estimation extracted of reported optimization techniques on PVSDM of PWP 201 polycrystalline module, which are particle swarm optimization (PSO) [51], grey wolf optimization (GWO) [50], Lightning Attachment Procedure Optimization (LAPO) [66] particle swarm optimization based grey wolf optimization (PSOGWO) [51]. Runs for all recent algorithms.…”

“…Several advanced applications have been introduced based on PV electricity, such as feeding the required power for satellite communication [8], greenhouse cooling and heating [9], water pumping for agriculture [10][11][12], supplying electronic devices and indoor lighting [13,14], etc. The PV characteristics can be analyzed with power-voltage (P-V) and current-voltage (I-V) curves.…”

“…In a clear day, incident solar radiation can reach 1000 W/m² [8,9]. The Saharan climate reigns over 84% of its surface area [10], Algeria is therefore considered an ideal place for this type of applications. In this context, especially in desert areas, photovoltaic water pumping systems are suitable for water supply because of its distance from the "conventional" electricity grid, in other hand, the used diesel pumping systems can contribute to many difficulties, such as: air pollution, high maintenance and repair costs, and transporting the fuel for long distances through desert roads in extreme weather conditions (movable sands and high temperatures can exceed 45°C ).…”

“…The pumped water can be used in many applications, such as household use, irrigation and livestock supply. It is used during the day and the surplus stored in reservoirs, making the water available at night or on cloudy days; so, tanks are used instead of batteries [10,11].…”
