The work deals with the study of the Energy Planning stage according to the ISO 50001:2018 Standard at the Hotel Punta la Cueva in Cienfuegos, Cuba. The current energy management indicators for hotels are well-studied. However, the study aims to incorporate the variable Degree-Days in the Room Days Occupied (RDO) to establish a correct Baseline and Energy Performance Indicator. The methodology followed is based on the energy management standards of energy review stage. The fundamental results were in obtaining the Energy Baseline with a Coefficient of Determination (R2) of 0.97. One of the opportunities for improvement consisted of the replacement of 80 bulbs 15 W with 9 W LED bulbs. It has an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 28%, a Present Value Net Income (NPV) of 71.5 USD, and an Investment Recovery Period (PRI) of 3.6 years. The second opportunity is a preliminary project for a Photovoltaic Solar System on the roofs of the buildings, where it is possible to install 1011 photovoltaic and achieve a generation of 384 kilowatt-peak (kWp).

The present study investigates the performance of solar photovoltaic integrated thermoelectric cooler (TEC) using MATLAB Simulink. The enhancement of efficiency has been achieved using an effective heat removal mechanism from the hot side heat sink. Since the hot side temperature is a crucial parameter. The intrinsic material properties like Seebeck coefficient (?), Thermal Conductance (K) and Electrical resistance (R) of the thermoelectric module are carefully estimated using analytical method and reported. The MATLAB Simulink Peltier module is developed based on the estimated intrinsic properties. The effect of system Voltage (V) and Current (A) on the thermal parameters like cooling capacity (QC) and Coefficient of performance (COP) has been investigated. The simulation study is validated by conducting a series of experimental analysis. The experimental model is equipped with a 100 Wp polycrystalline solar photovoltaic module to integrate and power the 12V/5 A of the 60-Watt thermoelectric cooler. Moreover, the results reveal that there is a significant effect of ambient and hot side temperature on the thermoelectric cooler performance. The fin-type conductive mode of heat transfer mechanism is adopted along with the convective forced air-cooling system to achieve effective heat removal from the hot side. The infrared thermographic investigation is carried out for ascertaining effective heat removal.

This work focuses on a mitigating harmonic filter. It investigates the effect of mitigating harmonic filters in the textile industry with innovative energy conservation strategies for energy bill reduction, which covers a pathway to climate change mitigation. Here, the effect of the harmonic filter is found out by the systematic energy audit methodology (Preliminary, Detailed and Post-Audit phase). From the energy auditing, it has been found that the textile industry needed a passive harmonic filter for harmonic mitigation. Since, third, fifth, and seventh order of harmonic predominantly exists in the system. The high stability at higher current, known tuning frequency, low cost, and low power consumption make the passive filter the best fit for the system. The voltage and current Total Harmonic Distortion Factor (THDF) have been measured using the class 'A' power quality and energy analyzer. The harmonic filter's effect in harmonics mitigation is prominent; 66.45% of the reduction of current harmonics is achieved after installing the passive filter at the Point of Common Coupling (PCC) of the system. Also, the reduction of harmonics ensures energy conservation by reducing additional losses (joule, copper, and eddy current losses). The techno-economic analysis with payback period calculation is carried out and reported. Also, the effect of harmonics like mechanical anomalies (temperature rise) is carefully studied using an infrared thermographic technique in the textile industry's motor loads. The energy conservation and their carbon emission reduction are calculated and reported.INDEX TERMS Carbon emission reduction, energy audit, energy conservation, harmonic mitigation, passive mitigation techniques, and power quality.
