We analyze the experimental hadron yield ratios for central nucleus-nucleus collisions in terms of thermal model calculations over a broad energy range, √ s N N =2.7-200 GeV. The fits of the experimental data with the model calculations provide the thermal parameters, temperature and baryo-chemical potential at chemical freezeout. We compare our results with the values obtained in other studies and also investigate more technical aspects such as a potential bias in the fits when fitting particle ratios or yields. Using parametrizations of the temperature and baryonic chemical potential as a function of energy, we compare the model calculations with data for a large variety of hadron yield ratios. We provide quantitative predictions for experiments at LHC energy, as well as for the low RHIC energy of 62.4 GeV. The relation of the determined parameters with the QCD phase boundary is discussed.

Abstract. Results on strange particle production at energies from √ s = 2 − 200 A GeV from a (3+1)dimensional Boltzmann+hydrodynamics hybrid model are presented and compared to results from the Ultra-relativistic Quantum Molecular Dynamics transport approach and existing experimental data. The hybrid model with an intermediate hydrodynamical evolution for the hot and dense stage of the collision allows us to explore the centrality and system size dependence of (multi-strange) hyperon production in A+A collisions. The transition from a system which is not fully thermalized, like in C+C or Si+Si collisions, to supposedly fully thermalized systems as e.g. created in Pb+Pb reactions is investigated. The hyperon yields are enhanced in the hybrid approach due to the local equilibrium assumption and therefore in line with the experimental data. The excitation functions of strange to nonstrange particle yields (e.g. K + /π + ) calculated in the hybrid approach are able to reproduce the famous 'horn' structure at SPS energies with a purely hadronic equation of state in contrast to the pure transport approach, which failed to explain the experimental data.

The dynamics of partons and hadrons in relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions is analyzed within the novel Parton-Hadron-String Dynamics (PHSD) transport approach, which is based on a dynamical quasiparticle model for the partonic phase (DQPM) including a dynamical hadronization scheme. The PHSD approach is applied to nucleus-nucleus collisions from low SPS to LHC energies. The traces of partonic interactions are found in particular in the elliptic flow of hadrons and in their transverse mass spectra. We investigate also the equilibrium properties of strongly-interacting infinite parton-hadron matter characterized by transport coefficients such as shear and bulk viscosities and the electric conductivity in comparison to lattice QCD results.Comment: 6 pages, 7 figures, Proceedings of the STARS2013 and SMFNS2013 conferences, 4-10 May 2013, Havana/Varadero, Cub
