Energy Consumption Delay Evaluation of NB-IoT Terminal Based on Markov Model

Abstract: The energy consumption of terminal of Internet of Things has attracted much attention in the study of smart Internet of Things. How to simulate the energy consumption process of the terminal from the theoretical level, so as to analyze the energy consumption and delay of the terminal are important issues. In this paper, taking the power monitoring terminal as an example, a Markov model is established for the Narrow-Band Internet of Things (NB-IoT) terminal with periodic automatic reporting. The working state o… Show more

“…For NB-IoT, a Markov model is analyzed for power consumption and delay evaluation having the states as PSM, data transport and receive, eDRX and terminal disconnection. 17 However, the Markov model is inefficient in calculating the sojourn time, which is taken care of in the SMM. [18][19][20] In this light, a SMM for NB-IoT devices with the states: PSM, idle, random access channel (RACH) and transmission state was considered to evaluate delay and power consumption.…”

“…Moradi et al 16 considered extended state SMM including the discovery process and illustrated its effect on the DRX mechanism. For NB‐IoT, a Markov model is analyzed for power consumption and delay evaluation having the states as PSM, data transport and receive, eDRX and terminal disconnection 17 . However, the Markov model is inefficient in calculating the sojourn time, which is taken care of in the SMM 18‐20 .…”
