Energy and spectral efficiency trade‐off for the downlink OFDM‐distributed antenna systems

Abstract: SUMMARYThis paper investigates an energy efficient optimization scheme for the downlink multiuser OFDM‐distributed antenna systems. We adopt a multicriteria optimization method to offer a systematic study on the relationship between spectral efficiency (SE) and energy efficiency (EE). First, we transform the energy efficient optimization problem with high complexity into a simpler downlink multiuser OFDM problem. Then, using the weighted sum method in multicriteria optimization, an optimal energy efficient sch… Show more

“…However, due to lack of a unique solution for global optimization, the EE-SE relationship cannot guide the network operator directly. He et al [27] investigates an EST problem in a downlink OFDM-distributed antenna systems, in which EE maximization can be achieved through Lagrange multiples. However, it converts a fractional optimization problem to a problem that optimizes the numerator and the denominator simultaneously, which actually cannot obtain the optimum of the fractional optimization problem.…”

“…Furthermore in , the resource allocation is formulated to maximize EE for secure OFDMA systems as a mixed nonconvex and combinatorial optimization problem with negligible circuit power taking into consideration for single‐cell scenario. In , EE in OFDM distributed antenna systems in single cell scenario is also analyzed. EE comparison of the different types of MIMO systems is also present in .…”
