Energy analysis at the interface of piezo/thermoelastic half spaces

Abstract: Purpose This paper aims to study the energy ratios of plane waves on an interface of nonlocal thermoelastic halfspace (NTS) and nonlocal orthotropic piezothermoelastic half-space (NOPS). Design/methodology/approach The memory-dependent derivatives (MDDs) approach with a hyperbolic two-temperature (HTT), three-phase lag theory is used here to study how the energy ratios change at the interface with the angle of incidence. Findings Plane waves that travel through NTS and hit the interface as a longitudinal w… Show more

“…Pathania et al (2022) studied the plane wave propagation in a homogeneous isotropic rotating thermoelastic solid with DP using the LS theory of thermoelasticity. Gupta et al (2023) examined the energy characteristics at the interface of two dissimilar non-local thermoelastic solids (i.e. thermoelastic/orthotropic piezothermoelastic).…”

“…In exploration geophysics and seismology, seismic techniques are used to examine the fluid content of underground reservoirs through the analysis of reflected wave signals. The behaviour of reflection coefficients at the stress-free surface of various porous media has been extensively studied, with notable contributions from researchers such as Sharma and Kumar (2011), Kumar et al (2018), Wang et al (2021), Kumari et al (2022a, 2022b), Kumari and Kumar (2022), Gupta et al (2023) and Kumar et al (2022). These investigations have contributed significantly to understanding the characteristics of reflection phenomena and their applications in geophysics.…”
