Endoscopic transvaginal bladder neck suspension for stress urinary incontinence

Abstract: We report the short-term results in 23 women who underwent endoscopic transvaginal bladder neck suspension for stress urinary incontinence. Significant improvement with only minor occasional leaks after surgery was observed in 2 patients (10.5%) and the remaining 2 cases (10.5%) were failures. Four patients were lost to follow-up. “…In 203 patients assessed, Stamey reported a continence rate of 91% after a follow‐up of at least 6 months [ 3]. This excellent success rate after the Stamey procedure could not be confirmed during most subsequent investigations; the frequency of long‐term urinary continence was very variable, at 40–80% [ 4–21]. Compared with previous studies, these variable results could be caused by discrepancies in the selection of patients or the duration of the available follow‐up.…”
