The development of shallots in tidal land needs to be carried out considering the availability of land and the demand for shallots, which continues to increase, so it is necessary to develop suboptimal land. Adaptive shallot varieties and soil and water management are key to agricultural cultivation in tidal swamps. This research aimed to elucidate the production of Shallot of the Bima Brebes, Batu Ijo, and SS Sakato varieties through water-saturated cultivation in tidal land. This research was conducted in the tidal area of Mulyasari Village, Tanjung Lago District, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, from April to June 2023. This study used a 2-factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The first factor is the use of varieties (V): the Bima Brebes variety, the Batu Ijo variety, and the SS Sakato variety. The second factor was the applications of ameliorants and actinobacteria by coating (A): without ameliorants, actinobacteria, actinobacteria + manure, actinobacteria + manure + dolomite. The treatment combinations totalled 12 and were repeated three times, so there were 36 experimental units. The highest shallot productivity was obtained in treating actinobacteria + chicken manure + dolomite for the Bima Brebes variety, namely 8.42 tonnes/ha. Providing actinobacterial-enriched ameliorant affects the nutrient uptake of N, P, and K. Fe and Al can be chelated by providing actinobacterial-enriched ameliorant so that shallots can produce quite good production in tidal fields with water-saturated cultivation varieties.

Tidal areas are believed as future land for many commodities in Indonesia. Here, shallot growing was evaluated on tidal land supplemented with soil conditioners. The research aimed to evaluate the adaptive response of shallot varieties for growing on tidal land with a water-saturated system indicating Fe and Al stress by applying soil ameliorant and actinobacterial. The study used a completely randomized factorial design with three replications. The first factor was shallot variety (Bima Brebes, Batu Ijo, and SS Sakato) and the second factor was soil conditioners (no ameliorant, actinobacteria, ameliorant+actinobacteria, and actinobacteria+ameliorant+dolomite). Bima Brebes and Batu Ijo cultivars had the highest growth percentage, age at shoot emergence, plant height, and number of leaves, while the SS Sakato variety had the slowest growth. Shallot production variable had a significant interaction with soil conditioners. Bima Brebes variety demonstrated high suitability for a water-saturated system in tidal land, and actinobacteria+ameliorant+dolomite was a more promising conditioner than other treatments. Pancreatic Lipase Inhibitory Activity of Endophytic Actinobacteria from Rhododendron spp.

Antiobesity medication is available as therapeutic compounds that can reduce fat digestion by the inhibition of pancreatic lipase. Actinobacteria have the potency as source of bioactive compounds with various biological function including as pancreatic lipase inhibitor. However, the potency of endophytic actinobacteria from Rhododendron spp. as source of pancreatic lipase inhibitor producer has not been reported yet. The aim of this study was to examine the potential of pancreatic lipase inhibitory activity of 23 endophytic actinobacteria from Rhododendron spp.; to characterize their colony based on morphology and molecular analysis. Screening test of pancreatic lipase inhibitor was conducted using the supernatant of endophytic actinobacteria, lipase pancreatic porcine (L3126) and p-nitrophenyl butyrate. The supernatant of selected isolates was extracted using ethyl acetate. The result showed that various inhibitory activities ranging between 0.00 until 91.69%. There were 11 out of 23 isolates that have potential as pancreatic inhibitor. Amongst them, the extract of four selected isolates, i.e. RZP 1.3, RSSB 3.2, RSS 2.1, and RJB F3.2 demonstrated inhibitory percentage of more than 80%. The RJB F3.2 extract showed to have IC50 value by 431.48 µg mL-1 compared to control, i.e. Xenical (89.07 µg mL-1). Phytochemical analysis exhibited that the extract of the selected isolates contained alkaloid which may function as pancreatic lipase inhibitor. Based on the morphological character, the selected isolates have various morphological colonies and 16S rRNA gene sequence revealed the sequence homology to Streptomyces spp. The data clearly indicate that endophytic actinobacteria from Rhododendron spp. have potency as pancreatic lipase inhibitor producer and further studies could be explored for the development of antiobesity agent.
