Endophthalmitis After Vitrectomy Surgery: A Case–Control Analysis

Abstract: To identify risk factors associated with endophthalmitis after pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) surgery. Methods: All eyes that presented with endophthalmitis after PPV from 2005 to 2015 in a community-based vitreoretinal subspecialty practice were evaluated using a retrospective nested case-control study. Exclusion criteria were presentation more than 6 weeks post-PPV, less than 3 months of follow-up, history of globe trauma, age less than 18, and history of trabeculectomy surgery.
