“…Previously, BVDV‐1a, 1b, 1c, 1d, 1f, 1h, 1i, 1l, 1r and 1v; BVDV‐2a and 2b; and HoBi‐like pestiviruses were detected in samples originating from the cattle in Turkey. Additionally, it has been reported that BVDV‐1l is predominant in cattle and widespread in Turkey (Yesilbag et al., 2008, 2017; Oguzoglu, Koc, Coskun, Dogan, & Duran‐Yelken, 2019; Oguzoglu et al., 2012; Timurkan & Aydın, 2019). However, in this study Aydin‐like pestivirus was found to be the predominant genotype (33.3%, 8/24) in bovine foetuses.…”

“…However, the third region is the coding region of E2 protein also showed high variability and was frequently used for genotyping of Pestiviruses (8). Based on partial or complete genome sequencing, BVDV-1 has been classified into at least 22 subtypes (BVDV-1a to BVDV-1v) (24) while BVDV-2 and HoBi-like virus divided into 4 subtypes (a to d) (25).…”

“…According to sequence comparisons of the BVDV 5'-UTR, BVDV was divided into two genotypes: bovine viral diarrhea virus type I (BVDV-1) and bovine viral diarrhea virus type II (BVDV-2) [3] . At present, according to comparisons of the 5'-UTR, N pro , and E2 sequences in the BVDV genome, BVDV-1 can be divided into 22 subtypes (1a-1v), and BVDV-2 can be divided into four subtypes [4][5][6][7] . Because of the high mutation rate of RNA viruses and increasingly frequent international exchange and trade, new subtypes of BVDV are still emerging.…”
