Encopresis Caused by Mother's Stoma

Abstract

To the Editor.— We read the very interesting case report in Pediatrics1 about the boy who became extremely anxious and refused to go to the toilet after he saw a horrifying television commercial about a toilet. This led to constipation. We have an experience that corroborates this observation and smartly exposes the underlying mechanism. A 5-year-old girl who had a severe defecation problem for 2 years was brought to our hospital. She persistently refused to go to the toilet or to use a potty.
