Enamel microabrasion in an individual with Cohen syndrome

Abstract: This case report describes the esthetic dental treatment of a patient with Cohen syndrome where microabrasion was used to treat dental fluorosis. The patient's teeth had white and light yellow spots, which were diagnosed as moderate dental fluorosis. These spots were treated with microabrasion using pumice paste and 37% phosphoric acid. “…However, it is known that polished tooth surfaces are essential so that debris, plaque, and pigments do not accumulate and interfere with the aesthetics and integrity of the surface. Although the literature presents several studies of clinical evaluations [12,13] and microscopic [14] microabrasion techniques, there is a lack of studies related to the hardness and the enamel surface after microabrasion procedures. This study aimed to evaluate the microhardness and roughness of enamel after microabrasion and also the influence of saliva on the hardness of enamel.…”
