Enabling Autonomic Meta-Scheduling in Grid Environments

Abstract: Grid computing supports workload execution on computing resources that are shared across a set of collaborative organizations. At the core of workload management for Grid computing is a software component, called meta-scheduler or Grid resource broker, that provides a virtual layer on top of heterogeneous Grid middleware, schedulers, and resources. Meta-schedulers typically enable end-users and applications to compete over distributed shared resources through the use of one or more instances of the same meta-s… Show more

“…The values usually come in the form of SLA requirements, which one may assume to have been based on business values. Examples include job scheduling algorithms, see [1] for an overview of types, optimization for a large but known 3-tier architecture [19], optimization for a Services Oriented Architecture (SOA) among providers of services with the same functional interface, and similar work where services adhere to other interfaces such as grid, autonomic, or cloud computing [20,14,22,15,11,10,23,24]. IT-BVM can be applied to use information available from, e.g., BPEL-designed environments.…”

“…Autonomic systems are thus characterized by their ability to detect, devise and apply adaptations when needed. There has been a considerable effort recently on combining Grid computing with techniques of autonomic computing [16,20,2,21,5,18,10,9,8]. In this paper we are focusing on an autonomic architecture for a grid middleware supporting computational science.…”

“…Um Metaescalonador esconde a complexidade do mecanismo de escalonamento do usuário e provê uma forma transparente para execução dos serviços (Liu et al, 2008) (Heidt et al, 2008) (Mann, 2005). Além disso, um Metaescalonador tem como…”
