This study investigated undergraduate students' intention to use wiki technology. An extension of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) has been used by taking into account not only students' wiki perceived utility and usability, but also Big Five personality characteristics and two other variables, social norms, and facilitating conditions, as proposed in the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). Students' beliefs before (pre-wiki scenario) and after (post-wiki scenario) the actual use of the wiki system were investigated, with 85 and 86 participants respectively. The hypotheses were tested using partial least squares analysis. For the pre-wiki scenario, 8/15 hypotheses were confirmed and 11/15 for the post-wiki scenario. The relationship between perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness was found to be of the highest magnitude. The most notable difference across the two scenarios was that the relation between perceived ease of use and attitudes towards use was significant only in the first scenario. The results demonstrate that the proposed TAM-extended model could predict students' wiki acceptance.

Campaigners are increasingly citing the Web as an important election tool for candidates and parties to communicate with voters; however, to what extent is this rhetoric matched to reality? Evidence suggests there is something of a gap in the importance attributed to the medium and the extent to which it is actually adopted. Most studies of the drivers of Web campaigning to date have focused on the environmental factors and personal resources that determine individuals' use of the medium. We argue here that such models miss a key layer of explanation in accounting for web uptake by politicians-that of individual attitudes and subjective assessments of the value of the Internet as a campaign tool. More specifically, by applying the Theory of Planned Behavior, we account for patterns of Web campaign activity among candidates in a German state level election. We test our model on survey data and an independent audit of Web use by candidates. Our findings confirm that there is a large discrepancy between the intention to use Web campaigning and actual adoption. Furthermore, the theory is confirmed as a useful explanatory of the Web campaigning that does occur, although the individual components of the theory vary in importance. to the medium and the extent to which it is actually adopted. Information and communication technologies (ICTs) open up new opportunities for rural young entrepreneurs to enhance their businesses. However, the challenges of adopting and using ICTs obstruct these businesses from growing into drivers for rural-economic development and job creation. The purpose of this paper is to seek to validate the technology acceptance model (TAM), which measures the volitional aspect of the ICT adoption behavior of young entrepreneurs in a rural community. In order to test the model, data are collected using self-administered questionnaires from 400 rural youth entrepreneurs. The structural equation modeling technique (SEM) was applied to assess the model. The results confirmed that TAM is robust enough to gauge the dimensions of young entrepreneurs' adoption of ICT by way of the model accounting for 55 percent of the variance in intention to use ICT. They also indicated that attitude toward entrepreneurship partially mediated the relationship between ICT's usefulness and entrepreneurial intention. This paper will serve to illuminate this model and reveal new knowledge perspectives. Policy makers could encourage rural youth entrepreneurs to use ICT in their businesses, which will in turn inspire other entrepreneurs to look up to these adopters and follow them, thus increasing the use of ICT in rural communities.
