A new region of proton-rich parent nuclei decaying by spontaneous cluster emission with a measurable branching ratio relative to alpha decay is predicted within the analytical superasymmetric fission model. After a brief presentation of the model and of the seven mass tables used to calculate the released energy, the obtained results are discussed. Measurable half-lives and branching ratios are estimated for 12C, 160, "Si, and other cluster radioactivities of some nuclides having proton and neutron numbers in the range Z=56-64 and N=58-72. Such nuclei far from stability could be produced in reactions induced by radioactive beams. PACS number(s): 23.70.+j1 27.60.f.j

JENDL Actinoid File 2008 (JENDL/AC-2008) was released in March 2008. It includes nuclear data for neutron-induced reactions for 79 nuclides from Ac (Z ¼ 89) to Fm (Z ¼ 100). The neutron energy range is 10 À5 eV to 20 MeV. Almost all data for 62 actinoids in JENDL-3.3 were revised. New evaluations were performed for 17 nuclides, which have half-lives longer than one day. A new comprehensive theoretical model code CCONE was widely used for the evaluation of cross sections and neutron emission spectra. Thermal cross sections for many nuclides were revised based on experimental data. Resonance parameters were readjusted to reproduce them. Simultaneous evaluations of fission cross sections were performed for six important nuclei. The least-squares fitting code GMA was used for the evaluation of fission cross sections for minor actinoids. In this paper, we present the evaluation methods and results of the JENDL/AC-2008.

Abstract. The steep decrease in the delayed neutron yield (DNY) in the 4-to 7-MeV region has not yet been fully understood. In the present study, an attempt was made to understand the variation in terms of increased neutron emission from fission fragments for U-235. As the incident energy increases, the excitation energy of the primary fragments increases, thus the fragments have a chance to emit more prompt neutrons. This results in decreased yields of precursors, since some of the "would-be precursor" fragments fail to be actual precursors after neutron emission. This process was followed nuclide-wise to obtain the final precursor yields. The initial total excitation energies (TXE) of the would-be precursor fragments were calculated by two methods; Case A: energy balance between total energy release and total kinetic energy (TKE) of fragments, and case B: prompt neutron multiplicity and kinetic energy. The DNYs were calculated for the two cases, using three different data for neutron separation (binding) energies: the empirical data of Audi et al., FRDM and TUYY atomic massa formulas. The results indicate that the variation of DNY is dependent on the assumtion used to estimate the initial excitation energy as well as the data set of the neutron separation energy.
