Empirical anticoagulation for patients in sinus rhythm at high risk of ischaemic stroke: A review of current literature

Abstract: Ischaemic stroke is one of the commonest causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide and around a fifth of events can be attributed to a cardioembolic source. This is typically due to atrial fibrillation (AF), the most common sustained cardiac arrhythmia.
