“…Although solvents from the paints and industrial uses are large component of all VOCs inventories, their reported profiles are however, few [50][51][52]. Printing ink solvents from offset [53] and rotogravures are commonly identified in emission inventories.…”

“…It is apparent from the literature that bitumen constituents are divided in unequal proportions into particulate (fume) and gaseous (vapors) phases of bituminous emissions (Kitto et al 1997;Leinster and Evans 1986;Ekstrom 1991;Lesage et al 1987;Greenspan et al 1995). Melting point appears to determine whether a substance appears in the vapor or particulate phase of asphalt emissions at a given temperature (Lesage et al 1987).…”

“…The apportion of polyaromatic hydrocarbons in to bitumen fumes and vapors at typical paving temperatures can also be predicted on the basis of molecular weight: gaseous phase of asphalt emissions consisted mostly of polyaromatic hydrocarbon with molecular weight less than 228, while the particulate matter from asphalt emissions (fume) was collected in personal exposure monitoring by means of total dust samplers. In recognition of the importance of the gas phase of asphalt emissions (Kitto et al 1997;Leinster and Evans 1986), some investigators also collected samples of asphalt vapors, employing sorbent tubes to this purpose. Particulate and gaseous samples were collected in the series by various workers.…”

“…PAHs are found into bitumen (CONCAWE, 1992) and in bitumen fumes Burstyn et al, 2002;Kito et al, 1997) with possible effects on health Burstyn et al, 2003Burstyn et al, , 2007. When directly emitted from bitumen, PAH masses depend on the contact surface area between bitumen and air, the bitumen origin, and its temperature.…”
