Emission Test Method for Source Stirred Reverberation Chambers With Scalar Measurements

Abstract: This paper describes a novel method to reconstruct the radiated emission of a device under test placed in a reverberation chamber equipped with multiple monopole source stirring technique. The method is based on the measurement of the normal component of the electric field, collected close to the walls of the chamber by the monopole antennas. The main improvement from the previous formulation of the method is that the only knowledge of the amplitude of the electric field is sufficient to reconstruct, within a … Show more

“…On the other hand, the stirred components are represented by the skirt, whose width is proportional to the Doppler spread. Given the latter is defined in this article according to (3), it has been found that 98% of the average power in the stirred components is roughly contained within 2 × νD around the middle of the Doppler spectrum, where νD is computed by (3). Additionally, the symmetric feature of the Doppler spectrum of the unloaded VIRC in Figs.…”

“…On the other hand, a resonating and electrically large room creates a reverberation chamber (RC) that emulates a rich multipath environment. Such a chamber has been used in EMC to conduct, e.g., immunity measurements and radiated emission measurements [3]. In the last two decades, nevertheless, RCs have become an indispensable OTA-testing tool in research and development, namely, OTA testing of wireless baseband algorithms [4], [5], OTA-based antenna measurements [6]- [8], and OTA testing of wireless devices (i.e., baseband and antennas combined) [9]- [12].…”

“…Different methods to measure radiated emission exploit reverberation chambers [ 32 ]. As an example, in [ 33 ], the shielding effectiveness of different materials has been measured in a nested reverberation chamber up to 6 GHz.…”
