Subject classification: 71.55. Ht; 78.55.Hx; S9.15 Photoluminescence spectra and excitation photoluminescence spectra of BaCd 2 Cl 6 : Pb crystal were studied in the temperature range of 77-300 K. At 77 K the A T and A X photoluminescence bands are located in the regions of 3.64 and 2.51 eV, respectively. In the excitation spectra splittings of the A and B band into two, and of C bands into three components take place. The D excitation band is not split at all. The value of the absolute quantum efficiency of photoluminescence h q and its temperature dependence are determined separately for the A T and A X photoluminescence bands (at 77 K h T q ¼ 0:44, h X q ¼ 0:17, respectively), as well as the activation energy of the non-radiative transitions and the quenching constants.
