Emission of pyridine and polypyridine chromium(III) complexes in rigid and fluid media

Abstract: by the Cl atom through occupation of the d22 orbital, while in passing from the quartet to sextet, the additional charge loss is absorbed by the four porphyrin nitrogen atoms via covalent mixing with the dxx.yy orbital. In passing from the doublets through the quartets to the sextets there is also a systematic increase in 4S population. This increase seems to be reflected in the observed Mossbauer isomer shifts <5 that increases roughly from about 0.17 ± 0.07 mm/s for the doublets to about 0.40 ± 10 mm/s for th… Show more

“…The sharp rate increase at 150 K is associated with solvent motions that reduces the 2EQ -4A2 transition energy. 91 This behavior is a clear indication of a transition region between two thexi states. Above 230 K the decay rate increase is well fitted by a single-term Arrhenius expression.…”

“…A number of pyridine complexes of chromium(III) have been known since the early times of coordination chemistry. , Although some have received spectroscopic and photophysical attention, no photochemistry has been reported to date for any of these compounds.…”
